| The answer's in the looking glass... |
Appearance: Rather short (5' 2"), average build. Peony looks anything like royalty, much less next-in-line to be the sovereign leader of the Malkuth Empire. She's usually found wearing a black shirt, baggy brown pants, a white tunic, gaudy belt and blue wrap, and sandals. She doesn't wear makeup, and her long blond hair is usually mostly pulled back with the exceptions of two stands that she lets hang over her shoulders, with a bright blue-green stone strung into the left one. Her eyes are a bright shade of blue green and she's usually seen with some sort of mischievous smile on her face. Her skin is lightly tanned, hinting that the princess doesn't spend nearly as much time inside the castle as she claims to or should. Marked: Not Marked |

Personality: Peony is one of those people that is just a generally good person. She's friendly, outgoing, and makes friends very easily, mostly due to sheer charisma and persistence. She enjoys playing harmless pranks on her friends, and won't hesitate to make fun of herself for a laugh. She's an optimist, owing mostly to the fact that she has spent so much time cheering her friends up that she immediately sees the best in every situation. She is very informal in her speech, and is often reprimanded by her advisors for using slang in formal settings. However, she does know when to be serious and is often direct and logical when it come to making decisions, usually making them based on the greater good for the greatest number of people involved. It might sometimes make her seem unfair to some, but she prefers to think of it as being realistic. She cares very deeply for her people, and generally acts in the best interests of the Malkuth Empire as a whole. Generally, that is, until she feels her sovereign duty the Empire is suffocating her. She a bit of an escapist, not only in the sense that she is a free spirit that doesn't enjoy being shackled by responsibility, but also that she has grown quite proficient at sneaking out of the palace. Her ideal life would be to travel the world and be free to do as she wished, something that is neigh impossible for someone in her social position. Still, she generally does as she pleases, sometimes resorting to throwing around her position as crown princess to get her way. Despite this, she doesn't take to the title of "princess" too kindly, and prefers to be referred to simply as "her imperial majesty" or "her highness", saying the title of "princess" makes it seem like she needs someone to rescue her. She is also a bit eccentric, known for a fondness of rappigs (common swine animals with very long ears), designing and sewing costumes for her friends, and for collecting weaponry. She's known to be a bit childish, refusing the "grow up" even at her age. Peony can also be very messy, never having really grasped the concept of "tidying up after yourself". "Hussy" would also describe her quite nicely to some extent. While not necessarily as promiscuous as some might think, she does know how to let loose and enjoy herself. She might come off as a pervert, but to her it's all in good (questionably clean) fun. While not as brilliant as her friends, Peony is still rather intelligent. She might not have a head for sciences and math, but is an accomplished political maneuverer and can keep up with her best friend Jade in normal conversation. |
| You know they're gonna go which way they wanna go... |
Abilities/Strengths: Though not an amazing fighter, she is rather adept with a dagger and is fairly dexterous, used to climbing trees and sneaking out of the castle. She is also a fairly proficient seventh fonist (healer). However, her main strengths are her charming personality and the odd ability to smooth over even the most volatile situations. Weaknesses: Cute boys, cute ladies, and cute animals. Peony's also scared of having to grow up and will sometimes do anything to avoid responsibility. She is also a bit inexperienced at fighting, but luckily, she has a very skilled fonist on-hand most times. |

History: Young Peony grew up in the icy town of Keterburg, and made quick friends with the locals. Though she was forbidden to leave the manor as a child, she would often sneak out and attend Professor Gelda Nebilim's classes, using the pseudonym "Franzie" and masquerading as a Chesedonian merchant's daughter. She got along well enough with her schoolmates, and even managed to win the friendship of the "demon child" Jade Balfour. She and Jade became very close friends (much to classmate Saphir's chagrin) and would remain best friends into adulthood. She, with Jade, often teased Saphir, but stopped short of actually bullying the poor girl and considered her a friend. After the Professor's untimely death, Peony was left behind in Keterburg, her friends (Aslan Frings, Jade Curtiss, and Saphir Neis) had all become involved in the military, and as the emperor's youngest child, Peony had little to do but hang around the manor. That more or less changed when her siblings all fell ill, most of them dying. Her eldest brother, Franz, was the only one to survive and he called Peony to the castle in Grand Chokmah upon his coronation as emperor when she was 19. Franz was weakened by the illness that spread throughout the royal family and remained very frail after recovering. After she came of age the next year, Peony became the crown princess and next in line to take the throne. Shortly afterward, the Malkuth Empire was swallowed by war, eventually losing what would come known as the Hod War (after the island where the war took place). She served as a diplomatic emissary to the Kimlascan Kingdom and helped to smooth over relations between the two nations after the war was over. She strong armed her brother into turning the Third Division of the Malkuth Imperial Forces (headed by her best friend, Colonel Jade Curtiss) into her own personal guard for political missions. She considers Jade to be a brother of sorts, and she is rarely seen without him acting as her personal bodyguard on her frequent trips through Auldrant. It was on one such excursion (after leaving a somewhat rocky meeting in Baticul) that Peony set out apart from the group, intent on exploring the area around the city Belkend on her own. She doesn't recall much of what happened after that except the sensation of falling, but awoke, a bit disoriented, to find herself in a different Template. |
